Walkiva Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Walkiva (the “App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the App. We believe privacy information should be understandable, so the sections below explain what information may be processed, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.
1. Information We Handle
1.1 No Registration Required
Walkiva’s core functions can be used without creating an account. We do not ask you to provide a name, username, password, or email address simply to use those functions.
1.2 Activity and Device Information
To provide walking and step-tracking features, the App may process step counts, walking activity records, and related motion or fitness data made available by your device. Depending on your device settings and permissions, we may also receive limited technical information, such as device type, operating-system version, App version, IP address, language, crash details, and diagnostic events.
1.3 Support Communications
When you contact us, we receive the details you choose to include, which may consist of your email address, the contents of your message, and technical information that helps us investigate your request.
1.4 Device Permissions
Some functions may require access to motion, fitness, or similar device data. Your device will request permission where required. You may review or withdraw permissions through the system settings at any time, although doing so may prevent the affected feature from working properly.
2. Why We Use Information
Information described in this Policy may be used to:
- provide step counting, walking records, and other requested App functions;
- diagnose crashes, correct errors, and improve reliability and usability;
- respond to questions, feedback, privacy requests, and support inquiries;
- protect the App and its users from misuse, security threats, and fraudulent activity;
- meet legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
3. When Information May Be Shared
3.1 Service Providers
We may allow carefully selected vendors to process limited information on our behalf when they provide infrastructure, diagnostics, security, or customer-support services. They are permitted to use that information only to perform the agreed services and must safeguard it appropriately.
3.2 Legal and Safety Reasons
We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law or a valid legal request, investigate misuse, protect a person’s safety, or defend the rights and security of Walkiva, our users, or others.
3.3 Business Changes and International Processing
If Walkiva is involved in a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or transfer of assets, relevant information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate confidentiality protections.
Our service providers may process information in countries other than the one in which you live. Where required, we use appropriate measures intended to protect information when it is transferred across borders.
4. Data Storage and Retention
We retain information only for the period reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including security, support, and legal compliance. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete it or remove identifying elements. Activity information stored only on your device remains under your control and may generally be removed by deleting it within the App, clearing App data, or uninstalling the App, depending on your device.
5. Similar Technologies
The App may use limited local storage, device identifiers, or comparable technologies when necessary to remember settings, maintain essential functions, and understand technical performance. You can manage available controls through your device settings, though disabling them may affect certain features.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical safeguards designed to protect information against loss, unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure. No electronic system can be guaranteed completely secure, and therefore we cannot promise absolute protection.
7. Children’s Privacy
Walkiva is not directed to children under 16, or under the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
8. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including the ability to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of certain information, or to object to particular processing. You may submit a request using the email address below. We may need to verify your request and will respond within the period required by applicable law.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Policy to reflect changes to the App, our practices, or legal requirements. The updated version will be published on this page with a new effective date. Material changes may also be highlighted in the App when appropriate.
